Snapseed For iPad Could Be The Only Photo-Editing App You'll Ever Need
June 15, 2011
Numerous photo-editing apps call the iPad home. However, there are few that include the high-level editing tools required by professional photographers. One of those is Snapseed for iPad, which promises a “high-quality photo experience right at your fingertips.” Does it perform as promised?
Created by Nik Software, Inc., Snapseed for iPad helps professionals and amateur photographers alike make their photos better than ever using a combination of basic and creative enhancements.
Best of all, Snapseed’s magic occurs through simple combinations of tapping and dragging. This makes learning how to use the app as easier.
Enhancements fall into two separate categories: Correction and Effects.
Correction includes: Auto Correct, Selective Adjust, Tune Image, Straighten & Rotate, and Crop).
Effects are: Black & White, Vintage Films, Drama, Grunge, Center Focus, and Organic Frames
You may also add borders for incredible finishing touches or compare the final product to its original.
Photos may be shared with others through Facebook, Flickr, or email. In addition, the photos may be saved to the iPad’s Photo app or printed using an AirPrint-enabled printer.
Keep in mind; Snapseed for iPad will not work with RAW photos, which might turn off some more experienced photographers. Hopefully, this limitation will be corrected in future versions.
In addition, we hope the app’s comparison tool improves. For now, comparing an enhanced photo with the original involves clicking a “Compare” bottom. Unfortunately, this only provides a quick back and forth between both versions. We’d like to see an actual comparison tool. In other words, the enhanced photo sitting right next to the original.
Overall, however, Snapseed for iPad is a very good product for a reasonable price. It is $4.99 in the App Store.
