Despite its generic title, Ionocraft Racing, may be the futuristic racer iPhone users have been waiting for. The game looks to mix hovercraft racing with a steampunk art style. This really sets the tone for a dark, barren atmosphere that suits the game nicely. What makes this game stand out is that you can design your own hovercraft and customize it the way you like. You can upgrade its various parts as well as the vehicle's aesthetics. The gameplay appears to be like a combination of Sony's WipeOut series and the Extreme-G series that started on the Nintendo 64 and pod racing Star Wars games. One thing missing from any of the game's screenshots or videos are on-screen opponents. This may only be a time-based racer where players compete against high scores. Here is the list of the game's features (taken from the app description):
The should be worth checking out for any gamer who enjoys building or customizing vehicles, as well as those who love futuristic racers. Ionocraft Racing can be purchased on the App Store for $1.99.
