Today TomTom released an update to their ever-popular iPhone navigation app that's intended to help make those morning and afternoon work commutes less stressful by providing you with much more up-to-date traffic information via a new service dubbed TomTom HD Traffic.
TomTom HD Traffic is able to alert you of and reroute you around traffic jams better than any other service before it. This is accomplished by sending real-time traffic data to your iDevice every two minutes no matter if you're on primary or secondary roads, so it won't be too late to veer off of your path when traffic has taken a turn for the worst.
If a traffic jam has occurred on your route, TomTom HD Traffic will not only inform you how far out it is and how big of an impact it will have on your travel time, but it will also give you the best possible alternative routes. And since traffic data is provided every two minutes, you won't have to worry about trying to get around a traffic jam only to run into another.
TomTom HD Traffic is available via in-app purchase for $19.99 per year. If you are a current TomTom Traffic subscriber, don't worry, you'll automatically be upgraded to TomTom HD Traffic at no additional charge.
The latest update to TomTom's iPhone app also introduces the ability to add up to five additional stops on a single route, making it much easier to plan your epic road adventure ahead of time. By updating to v1.8, you'll also be able to view the latest map data TomTom has to offer.
