Velocispider Hits The App Store As A Universal App

June 2, 2011
A new arcade shooter has hit both iDevices in universal app form, it's called Velocispider. The game is an arcade shooter from a fixed and top-down perspective. You can't move the Velocispider outside his 2D plane on the ground. Movement is done by tilting your device. When enemies fly overhead above Velocispider, he can fire up at them as well as shoot straight up. He has no control of his turret so you have to move left and right a lot so as to not have Velocispider shoot himself. The game's art style is very retro looking and pixel-based. This really adds to the charm of the shooter as it makes you feel you're playing a genuine arcade game from the 90s. There are three lives or eggs at the player's disposal as he tries to make it through wave after wave of enemies. The game is based on 20 waves that are unlocked as the player progresses. This is an arcade game based on high scores and leader board competition. Game Center is nicely supported. Check it out if you have any interest at all in shooters. You can grab Velocispider right now on the App Store as a universal app for $.99.
