Avadon: The Black Fortress is a massive and deep old school fantasy role-playing game that comes packed with over 40 hours of gameplay. You won't have to worry about being inundated with in-app purchase requests like most other RPGs these days either, as everything in the game will be available to you at no extra charge as long as you put your time in.
Avadon: The Black Fortress is actually the first chapter in an epic fantasy saga where you are a noble servant of Avadon. Your leader, Blackbeard, will send you on a variety of quests into the war-torn land of Lynaeus in order to protect your people.
The game allows you to choose from four different character classes, each with dozens of their own unique spells and abilities. Your character can be moved all around the enormous environments by simply tapping on a spot on the screen. When you approach an enemy, the game will place a grid over the landscape and transform into a turn-based affair. During battles, you are able to either move, attack, cast a spell, or use one of the items you have acquired on your journey.
Throughout the game you will be able to interact and speak with non-playable characters who will help fill in the storyline and provide a way for you to buy and sell items. The choices you make during these conversations will change the outcome of the game. Since conversations with NPCs play a big part in the progression of the game, you are able to record them and place them in your journal for later viewing.
Avadon: The Black Fortress also includes dozens of side quests to go along with the main story, hundreds of magical items to discover, and Game Center integration.
