A Top-Down Perspective Pool Game Comes To The iPhone

July 20, 2011
A new pool title, 8 Ball Pool will be hitting the App Store soon; it's already available in New Zealand. It is a port of the popular Web-based Flash game from miniclip.com. Touch controls should work quite nicely on this title as it features a top-down viewpoint. There is also a line-drawing element present that fits well with the iDevices. You have to aim and swipe the on-screen pool stick to shoot the balls into the holes. However, a line is drawn ahead of time showing you the path of the ball. There also appears to be a mode, called "8 ball billards," that has you trying to pocket as many balls as possible before time runs out. When you are down to one ball, a new rack of 14 balls appears. Another great thing about this game is it features a tutorial so beginners can learn how to play. If you enjoy pool, the game should be a nice addition to your app library. Check out 8 Ball Pool on the New Zealand App Store for $1.29 NZ, which should translate to $0.99 USD.
