Adventure gaming fans may soon have another great title on their hands because The Neverhood may be coming to mobile devices like iOS. According to Joystiq, the original game's developer, Bazinga Studios, is negotiating licensing issues to port the game over.
The Neverhood was a 1996 PC game with a claymation style of visuals and point-and-click adventure gameplay. It was a really unique game for its time and there still aren't many games like it. Claymation is a great art style that is truly underutilized in gaming. The animation was also very fluid and unique because the character movements were influenced by weight and claymation physics.
Whether the developers plan to port the game over or release a completely new title based on the previous game, remains to be seen. According to Touch Arcade, the licensing issues may have already been resolved and the game's development may already be underway.
"It seems like the project is moving forward despite the legal conversation. The Facebook page for the game has several screenshots as well as tiny updates regarding the platforms its (sic) set to grace, which at this point are iPhone, iPod Touch, Android, and Windows 7. According to this page as well, several of the game’s original designers are on this project," Touch Arcade reports.
