An Endless Runner With Class, "Angry Business Man" Is A Must-Have For Every iOS Gamer

July 19, 2011
For several months now, there's been this solid little gem of a game hiding in the App Store, perhaps overshadowed in and altogether smothered by the rapid explosion of its ever-expanding "endless runner" genre. Angry Business Man, from German developer Severin Brettmeister, exudes the high style and straightforward simplicity that usually rockets an iOS title up the global charts. And, while Angry Business Man did make it into a few countries' top 10s, the game hasn't received its fair share of the spotlight. Unlike most endless runners, this one requires you to rotate your iDevice while playing, keeping ABM more or less centered while he chases after his stop-skipping morning bus. The menu design seamlessly melds into frantic gameplay as you tap to jump -- often in mid-rotation! -- to avoid silhouetted crags and bright safety cones. The angle of your iDevice determines the pacing of ABM's trot, and clattering footsteps ring out as he scatters to and fro across the screen. Check out AppBank Video's demo: The game is easy to play, though the progressive, dynamic paths are never the same twice and get much harder as your meters stack up. For visuals, presentation, replay value, and overall quality, Angry Business Man is right up there with the classic Canabalt. And, at $0.99 on iTunes, it's worth every penny.
