An Official Pixies App Arrives For The iPhone
July 21, 2011
Pixies, the alternative rock band, have released an official app for the iPhone/iPod touch to coincide with the band’s first U.S. tour in ten years.
Created by Topspin Media, Inc., the official app is a must-have for Pixies fans everywhere. In addition to offering on-demand streaming of archive performances, the app offers access to the band’s infamous Purple Tape.
First created at Fort Apache Studios in 1986, the Purple Tape is a 17-track demo that made the band famous.
Accessing the full album, however, is a two-step process.
First, to listen to one song from the album, users must submit their email. Next, to enjoy every song on the album, you must post a message on Facebook or Twitter from within the app.
You can also download the band’s 2004 Coachella show absolutely free.
Other app features include news, the ability to purchase studio albums from within the app, videos, a fan wall, and more.
The Pixies Doolittle “Lost Cities” U.S. tour begins October 28 in Ashbury Park, New Jersey.
The Pixies Official app also includes, as noted in iTunes:
