Apps For Teachers & Students Take Center Stage In App Store

July 7, 2011
School might be out in many places around the globe, but that doesn’t mean education is taking a backseat in the App Store. In fact, Apple is currently in the process of adding two new sections that highlight apps for both teachers and students. TJ Houston, an educator himself living in Ohio, first uncovered the new Teachers section, which is available here. Strangely, Apple has yet to advertise this section on its App Store’s main page. However, perhaps that will come on Friday when Apple refreshes the main page of the store. Nonetheless, it includes both iPhone/iPod touch and iPad apps for the educators amongst us. Categories include:
  • Classroom tasks
  • Curricula Support
  • Instruction Tools
  • Personal Organization
  • Reference
Meanwhile, a “Summer Learning Fun For Kids” section is making a splash on the front page of the App Store. Titles here available include: Drawing Pad, ABC Play, Motion Math HD, and more. It’s nice to see Apple remaining true to its educational roots by offering these new sections. You can also check out our own Back To School applist. Thoughts?
