AppWeather Updated, Plus Win A Copy

July 7, 2011
AppWeather by Daniel Toranzo Perez gives you a snapshot of the weather for any part of the globe. The app is beautiful in its simplicity. The first screen prompts you to enter what location you’d like to see. At first it appears you can only enter US cities, however, any international city works as well. The screen that follows shows the weather information for your selected city against a picturesque background. Depending on the conditions, you’ll either see clouds drifting, rain drops sliding down glass, pine trees swaying against a sunrise, or others. The subtle animation for each scene is enough to be visually pleasing without distracting from the weather information. The weather shows the current temperature and the high and low for the day. The forecast information is pulled every 10 minutes. By default, the temperature is displayed in Celsius. Swiping the info will show Fahrenheit. I would think Fahrenheit would be the default, considering this is an American-centric app. The wind speed by default is miles per hour, but can be changed to kilometers per hour. While I like the look of this app, for the life of me I can’t figure out what the notification badge indicates. The app has no inspector icon or options under the Settings app. I also noticed that the time always reflected the time zone I was in, rather than the time zone for the selected city. Even though the app shows promise as it is, the developer appears to constantly updating it. The scenery is beautiful to look at and the weather information is just enough to show you what to expect without being cumbersome. GIVEAWAY: We have 10 codes for AppWeather to giveaway to readers!
