AT&T: iPhone 5 To Arrive October 4

July 13, 2011
An internal AT&T document suggests Apple’s next handset will be released October 4, in news first reported by 9 To 5 Mac’s Seth Weintraub. October 4, a Tuesday, would certainly make sense as a launch date for the rumored iPhone 5. After all, Apple will almost certainly announce the public release of iOS 5 in September. It is then we expect the company to announce a new handset as well. The document, entitled “AT&T Mobile Insurance Eligible/Ineligible/Tiered Deductible Equipment List,” suggests AT&T is raising the price it charges customers for iPhone insurance, from $4.99 to $6.99. According to the document, this will occur October 4, “in conjunction with a new tier, Device Tier 3, that is $199.” In other words, the document mentions a new Apple iDevice, which will sell for $199, and be available the first Tuesday in October.
