Lost App ($1.99) by Kegan Gan is a navigation app that helps you find your way when you can’t seem to figure out how to get to your friend's house.

We’ve all done it. We print out directions from Google Maps, or transcribe them from a telephone conversation, and then we find ourselves on the wrong street with no way of knowing where we are or how to get back on track. Lost App is a great help for those moments when you are in dire straits and can’t get directions from your friend because you don’t know where you are. You just text your location to the iPhone of a person at your destination and they can see exactly where you are.

All you do is select the “I Am Lost” button on the app’s main screen and it will prompt you to send a code through either email or text. The receiver can then enter the code into their app and see your precise location and call you with directions. You can constantly update your location by tapping the screen. The changes will automatically update to the receiver. While it is helpful for both the sender and the recipient to have Lost App, it is not necessary. You can send a link to the iamlostnow.com website through email or text so that the viewer can see where you are and direct you.

The only problem I have with this app is that it is redundant. The iPhone’s native app has a map that updates to your current location, so all you have to do is zoom in until you see the street and make your way back to the correct location. Even if you don’t want to go through the effort of finding the right street yourself, you can “drop a pin” at your exact spot and send that to a friend in a text message.

Overall, this navigation app is easy to use. It works well for what it does and is not confusing at all, which is a good thing if you are lost. It is only $1.99 and if you are the kind of person that has a hard time reading maps and need extra help from a friend, this app may just be helpful.

UPDATE: The app continues to update your location to the receiver automatically when you are on the "I Am Lost" screen. This means that you do not need to continue tapping on the screen to update your location. Additionally, the app will continue to update your location to the receiver if you press the lock button or the screen goes blank. This will continue to update your location for 10 minutes, of which the app will then prompt you with a notification.
