Could These Pics Be A Less Expensive Version Of The iPhone 4?

July 28, 2011
Some interesting photos of a possible “light” version of the iPhone 4 have surfaced on Tinhte, a Vietnamese website. There have been rumors about Apple releasing a less expensive iPhone, especially for an anticipated prepaid plan. Could this be a hint proving that rumor is true? This site has a fairly good reputation with previous leaks and this time they are saying they have a “very reliable source.”  The pictures seem to look exactly like the current white iPhone 4, so it may be hard to believe this is a new iPhone. However, because of their reliability in the past, we decided to pass this rumor on.

The images show what may be called an iPhone 4S. These images appear to be some kind of prototype, because some of the identification numbers have been crossed out on the rear of the device. This is shown above, and in the picture at the top of the page.

Below is a picture of the new iPhone device being jailbroken and updating its sources from the Cydia store.

Some stated features of this new device include faster speeds than the current iPhone 4 and the glass panels on the front and back have been replaced by plastic sheets. This is probably a way for Apple to manufacture a cheaper device. When Apple launched the iPhone 4 last year, they reduced the price of the then current iPhone 3GS, which only had a storage capacity of 8GB, to $49. The iPhone 4S would follow Apple’s historical pattern. The iPhone 3GS is still for sale for $49 with a 2-year contract from AT&T. It is uncertain if the new iPhone will be sold through a major carrier or if it will be a marketed under a prepaid plan. With over a month to go before the rumored iPhone 5 release, we will probably be overloaded with information as we try to decipher the fact from the fiction. Who knows if these pictures are even real? We certainly have good reason to believe Apple will release a less expensive iPhone and maybe the guys at Tinhte are just trying to make a logical assumption along with getting a little press. We would love to know your thoughts!
