Developers Begin Testing iCloud On Macs Too

July 25, 2011
Apple has released OS X 10.7.2 to developers. Along with a new iCloud for Lion Beta 5, developers can now test iCloud capabilities for Mac applications. Ever since Apple released the first of four (so far) iOS 5 betas, we’ve heard a lot about the upcoming iCloud capabilities in terms of iDevices. However, this is the first time developers have been able to use the new system for Mac applications too. As such, developers can begin playing around with the syncing of bookmarks, calendars, photo stream, and documents too. Plus, developers can start creating iCloud-enabled Mac apps. Apple is taking a huge step with this release and it will be interesting to see how developers react to it. First announced at WWDC, Apple’s iCloud service is expected to launch officially alongside iOS 5 sometime this fall.
