Here's Five Ways To Protect Your iPhone 4 From The Water

July 26, 2011
It’s summertime and that means warm weather for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere. However, before jumping in the boat or taking a swim in the backyard pool, consider this: Water and the iPhone don’t mix. With this in mind, The Los Angeles Times recently highlighted five iPhone accessories that can protect your handheld from accidental water exposure. We found the list so good we decided to highlight it here too. These accessories, priced from high to low are: The Magellan TouchCase - $99 Nothing works as well as the Magellan TouchCase, which includes an internal battery that charges your iPhone, plus an integrated GPS chip that improves reception accuracy. Plus, it works submerged at a depth of 1 meter for up to 30 minutes. It is also quite pricey and bulky. Krusell SEaLABox Waterproof Case - $69 This case also protects your handset for 30 minutes at a depth of 1 meter. Best of all, you can use it with other small devices as well. Still, $69 is pretty steep for a case you probably won't be using that often. Otterbox 2000 - $17.95 This accessory floats, which is good news if you suddenly find yourself in the water. However, unlike the TouchCase, you can’t actually use the iDevice while its in the Otterbox. However, the price looks about right. Expansys Waterproof Case - $11.99 This case offers the protection of the Otterbox (it floats) with the flexibility of the TouchCase (you can use your iDevice while it's in the case). Plus, the price is terrific. Ziploc Bag – Basically Free Really cheap, but want to protect your iPhone? Nothing works better than a Ziploc bag. However, we definitely aren’t recommending a ziploc bag as a long-term solution. What do you think? Leave your comments below.
