Jumble Your Sentences With Voice Shaker
Voice Shaker ($0.99) by LMR Yazilim Donanim Teknolojileri Ltd is a silly little entertainment app that lets you add effects to your own voice. It uses a martini shaker to create strange and funny sounds to scare your dog and make your kids giggle.
There are plenty of useless apps in the App Store, and this does not rise above the list, but Voice Shaker gets points for using the iPhone’s accelerometer in a creative way. By shaking your iDevice, you will jumble words, increase pitch and make your voice sound completely silly, and sometimes creepy.
You will first see a closed drink shaker. To get started, tap the lid of the shaker. This will start the recording. Make sure you are close to your iPhone’s microphone and start talking, singing, screaming or whatever strikes your fancy. When you have said your piece, close the lid and start shaking the drink mixer. As you shake, you will start to hear the jumbled words and quiver in the voice. Shake harder and you will hear the pitch change to chipmunk heights for extra goofiness. If you set your iPhone down while the recording is still playing, the jumbled sentence will continue to play, set in a particular scrambled pattern. This is where the funny starts to get creepy. It is not unlike a broken record playing in the background of a particularly scary scene in a horror flick from the eighties. When you are done, or want to record something new, just tap the lid and turn your iPhone upside down. This movement virtually dumps the recording out, allowing for a new one.
Being that it is just another waste of precious iPhone memory, it is hard to say that this app is worth a download. There is nothing wrong with it, other than that it is about as silly as a talking tomcat. It is original and fairly creative in its use of the iPhone’s accelerometer, so it is as good as, and maybe even better than, other apps like it. If you like silly apps that don’t do much more than entertain your children and drunk friends, this is for you. At only $0.99, you are not overspending by any means.
