Kids Will Enjoy New SmackEm App

July 19, 2011
Kids of all ages will enjoy the new SmackEm app for the iPhone/iPod touch. It allows you to add photo effects to headshots and then email them to family and friends. Created by behrens development, the $.99 app has one simple purpose: to manipulate an everyday photo by adding strange and sometimes disgusting effects to it. For example, you can add things like zits, lips. or even an infected wound to a picture of your best friend. Too gross? Throw a rather tame virtual pie in their face! SmackEm is extremely easy to use. After startup, simply select a stored photo or take a new one. Next, select the “Effects” tab to select an effect. Once you find an effect you like, switch to the “SmackEm” tab to add the effect. You can also “Keep,” “Undo,” or “Clear” effects too. Thereafter, switch to the “Effects” tab one more time to email or save. Naturally, this app isn’t for everyone. According to its developer it is “primarily for kids to prank friends with photo effects, although some older teens and adults have really liked it too.” Planned updates include numerous additional effects as well as double tap to mirror the current effect as well as in-app Facebook, Twitter, and text messaging. SmackEm is available in the App Store today.
