Last.fm Launches Amazing New Festivals App
July 7, 2011
Last.fm recently released its free Festivals app for the iPhone/iPod touch. Its purpose is to make finding nearby festivals simple and it really does.
In 2010, Last.fm launched a new website exclusively for users to find upcoming music festivals primarily in the U.S. and Europe. Now that same information is available in app format, albeit only for U.S. users.
The app provides a current list of festivals near you, including the show’s location (address, phone, and website), and the event’s entire lineup.
You can also share the information via Twitter, Facebook, and email. Events can also be imported into your Calendar app.
The app’s most impressive selling point is being able to see each event’s lineup of bands, which then links to additional information about each group including their biography, top tracks, top albums, and a listing of similar artists.
Finally, while not necessary, signing up for a free Last.fm account opens up additional app goodies, including the ability to tell your Last.fm friends you are attending an upcoming festival. Plus, Last.fm will recognize your musical tastes and suggest upcoming festivals accordingly. Key Features include:
Festivals is a terrific app and one that comes highly recommended. Also be sure to check out the equally impressive Last.fm app, which is also free.
