Monkube has recently released a massive update to their Lunar Lander-inspired iOS title, 6th Planet. The update brings 6th Planet to version 1.1.
The game now offers Retina display support, along with a new storyline and levels. A total of 50 "master" levels have been added for the diehard arcade gamers. The title was quite difficult as it was, without these levels, we can't imagine how challenging these levels must be.
The title has been known for super precise gameplay where you guide a monkey in a pod and keep it from hitting any objects or walls. It also has really spot-on controls that take advantage of the touchscreen. You control the pod by tapping on the left or right side of the screen. If you want to go straight up you tap both sides simultaneously.
There is a bit of a delay between the pod's movement and the player's taps on the jet propulsion used for movement. The reason being that there is space and gravity involved that has to be taken into consideration, and the craft's weight. It is a very precise and deep game under the hood of an arcade-style Lunar Lander spinoff.
One of the things that makes the title truly standout, besides its vibrant visuals and great soundtrack, is the storyline. The game's storyline is presented through comic book cutscenes with great artwork. The update has added extended story segments and more comic cutscenes should be available as well.
If you love arcade-style games with awesome sound effects and colorful visuals, you should check out 6th Planet.
The game is currently available on the App Store for $.99.
