A new side-scrolling fighting game set in a fantasy-medieval realm is hitting the App Store and is already available in New Zealand. The game is called Guardians: The Last Day of the Citadel and offers some truly breathtaking graphics, especially for an iOS title. It is also being released as a universal app. According to the app description, the game blends a variety of genres into a unique package while offering a core of side-scrolling gameplay. As you play, you will be able to collect various objects, equipment and weapons. The main character you will be controlling is Loreena Eysgaard and she is the captain of the Royal Guard of the Citadel. The gameplay will also include huge boss fights, hazard avoidance, striking down enemies with weapons, and using a variety of magic spells. The visual style takes inspiration from a wide range of settings and styles. "GUARDIANS takes place on an island, and it’s strongly influenced by Middle Ages, Vikings, Spanish Renaissance, with a touch of pure fantasy. The lands around the Citadel are the most diverse: a forest haunted by giant insects, ancient Aztec-looking temples swarming with undead creatures, green plains," the app description states. Guardians: The Last Day of the Citadel is available in NZ for $6.49, which should translate to $4.99 USD.
