Over One-Third Of Consumers Surveyed Plan To Purchase New iPhone 5

July 25, 2011
Are you saving up for the next generation iPhone? Are you hoping to be the first in line at an Apple, AT&T or Verizon Store near you? (Maybe even Sprint or T-Mobile?) According to a release from PR Newswire, you are not alone. The news release reveals that last month, PriceGrabber, an online shopping service, surveyed over 2,800 online shoppers in the U.S. They discovered that 35 percent of them plan to buy an iPhone 5 when it launches. The survey also found that of these respondents, 51 percent of them will pick up an iPhone 5 within the first year of the release and 31 percent will purchase it before the end of 2011. The survey also covered important features that will factor into their decision to purchase the next iPhone. Of the surveyed respondents, 59 percent said they would like to see better battery life, 55 percent are looking for a lower cost, 46 percent would like 4G network speeds, 45 percent were hoping for a larger screen, and 42 percent would like an improved camera. Most of these features are very practical, and probably similar to what any smartphone user looking to upgrade would want. There is one small problem, however. Apple has given no indication of an iPhone 5 yet. Apparently people are pinning their hopes and their wallets on the many rumors of the next iPhone release. Not many companies could claim to have this type of following before they even announce a product.
