Keep Track Of Your Spending With Expense
Expense ($1.99) by Sockii provides a clean, simple interface for keeping track of all those holes that keep appearing in bank accounts.
Simply type up in account name with its initial balance, and you’re ready to start entering all of your transactions. The categories range from “General” to “Utilities,” with plenty of other common expenses in the middle. Each one is represented by an unmistakable gray icon. You can even label each transaction with a note, though I like leaving the default; simply “A description.”
Each transaction (positive or negative) appears in a running list. What I really liked about this app was the category menu. All of the categories are listed, along with a balance to the side of them. Want to know where all of your money is really going? Look for which category is the most in the hole. It’d be nice if you could customize which categories you wouldn’t even use (I’m certain I won’t be traveling anytime soon).
As it stands, the only customization offered is to set a four digit passcode lock. You’ll need to enter it every time after you open the app. Forget your code? You won’t get locked out for numerous incorrect answers, though you’re on your own for figuring it out.
This is sill the first version of the app, and I think it could use a little bit of polish and more options for customizing before I can recommend it. For example, I’m not too keen about the black text on top of the purple account balance screen. However, I really like how the category icons give you a quick snapshot of where you’re money’s going.
