Hello Kitty Checkers Is An Adorable Twist On A Classic Game, And A Chance To Win A Copy!
Hello Kitty Checkers ($2.99) by Chaotic Moon Studios, LLC. brings Sanrio's undeniably cute cast of characters to the checkerboard. Even though there is no explicit tutorial, the app is a great way to learn this classic board game.
The application lets users play against a friend or against the computer. Users can choose from six different Sanrio characters: Hello Kitty, Keroppi, Chococat, My Melody, Hangyodon, and Badtz-Maru.
Hello Kitty Checkers supports Game Center and displays a total win-loss record at the end of every match. Players may also share scores via Facebook and Twitter.
The matches are very quick to play, in part because the computer is not very skillful at checkers. This is, however, helpful for younger children who may be playing the game for the first time.
My personal game tester (a.k.a. my daughter), who is a 7-year-old, taught herself to play and proceeded to complete almost 60 matches. Her winning percentage is currently about 66 percent.
I found it difficult to lose to the computer. It would often miss obvious moves or leave itself open to double jumps.
Winning a game of Hello Kitty Checkers is a cause for celebration. A banner congratulates you and the screen fills with dancing kitty, frog or bunny heads.
While Hello Kitty Checkers is not intended to challenge expert-level players, it is crafted to keep beginning players coming back match after match.
Adding a tougher level of computer play would make the game better and widen its appeal.
The app is available for iPhone or iPad, but is not universal.
We have two codes to give away, one for iPhone and one for iPad. To win, simply leave a comment on this post (with a valid email address so we can contact the winners) specifying which code you would like to receive. The contest ends Friday, July 8, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. PDT.
