iLocker - Hide Files, Pictures, Videos, Documents ($0.99) by Nicholas Lee Designs, LLC keeps important information on your iDevice under lock and key.
From the get go you’ll see a combination lock and a prompt to create a passcode. Once it’s set you turn the dial to each number and hit the flashing “OK” button to select.
At least you don’t need to do the whole “go left three times” spiel. I'm not quite sure what happens if you forget your code. I tried entering a wrong code several times, but there was no lock out or prompt to remember it.
Inside the app you can select which video or photos you would like to add to the locker. There is also an option to create a new document, which saves as a .txt file. You can also upload files from a computer by navigating to the URL provided at the bottom of the screen.
My question is: Why would you upload sensitive files to a mobile device? A flash drive would work just as well, and would be less of a target for thieves.
Setting a passcode lock on your iDevice will stop anyone from being able to access anything. This would seem like a better line of defense, in my opinion. Although I could understand wanting to lock away just your private files so you don’t need to keep entering your code every time the device goes to sleep.
The app has a clean look to it and functions the way it should. But the ultimate question is “Do you need it?” Those paranoid about losing their iDevice would probably be happy with it. However, I would just be cautious and not even sync sensitive information to my device.
I certainly wouldn’t upload said files from my desktop.
