Share Your Music Library With Music Marquee
Music Marquee ($0.99) by Tasty Cocoa Software LLC Music Marquee is a social networking app that allows you to share music from your iPhone or iPod touch with friends, through social networking sites such as: Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and others. Let the world know what you are listening to right now with just the touch of a button.
When you open the app, you will see the “Now Playing” marquee that it is named for. Touch the musical note in the middle and pick songs from your music library. As you select songs, they will be added to a playlist that will run automatically until all of the songs you have selected have been played. You can choose from song titles, artists, albums, pre-made playlists, and all other categories that already exist in your music library. You can even listen to your entire music library with this app.
Once you have created your desired playlist, you can tell your friends about it by linking your respective social networking sites from the information section. Select the tiny icon at the lower right corner to add services. From here, you can sign in to: Facebook, Twitter, FriendFeed, Tumblr, Last.fm and Ping.fm. By doing so, you will be sending your now playing post to every site you have enabled. You can also change the beginning text for the sentence to read whatever you’d like. For example, instead of the default text, “Listening to,” you could change it to read, “Singing along with.”
Once you have finished editing your options, hit the done button and start listening. If you want to tell your friends what you are listening to, tap the words Now Playing at the top of the marquee and a post will pop up. You can edit the post further before finally sending it along. When it posts to your various social networking sites, it will only have the sentence and what you are listening to. There is no link to the song or album art attached. While the simplicity is nice, it is hard to see the value in this app. What is the point of telling everyone what you are listening to if they can’t link to it in iTunes, or at least check out the album art?
Overall, this app is exactly right for telling everyone what you are listening to with the ease of adding multiple social networking sites at once, but that is all it does. I don’t see the point of posting this type of information without adding a link of some kind. I can’t recommend paying $0.99 for it, but there is an ad-supported free version if you’d like to see if it tickles your fancy. Maybe I’m just missing something.
