PopBooth Turns Your iPhone Or iPad 2 Into A Photo Booth, Order Real Prints
PopBooth Photo Booth (Free) by Sincerely Inc. will turn your iPhone or iPad into your own personal photo booth, capable of real prints from the mail.
Everyone loves photo strips, right? Of course we do. It's those spontaneous moments with friends and family, significant others, and even just ourselves. Who can't resist making a silly face for a photo strip? Now you can take all that fun with you with PopBooth Photo Booth.
On launching the app, you get a very simple and easy-to-use interface. The bottom will have a toolbar that consists of three buttons: Settings, Camera, and Previous Photos (taken with the app).
Snapping a new photo strip is done with a simple tap of the button. You will then get a camera screen with a frame so you know what part of the image will appear in the strip. There are also four spaces near the bottom left of the camera view -- these will hold the images you take during the shooting process.
PopBooth will take four shots in a row, with a space of three seconds in between each shot. After an image is shot, it will go into those thumbnail spots.
When you're done shooting the strip, you can then view the strip and apply some filters to it. There are currently five filters: Normal, B&W, Colorz, 1985, and Vintage. I think so far, the Colorz and 1985 filters are my favorite, but the other ones look pretty good too.
If you are satisfied with your strip, then it's time to share! PopBooth allows you to post your strip to Facebook or send them in email for free.
However, the magic behind PopBooth is that you are able to order actual printed photo strips and have them mailed to you. Ordering a physical strip will cost you $2.99 though, so I would recommend that you only order ones that truly mean something to you. The cost includes two photo strips -- one for you, and one to share. For the rest, just slap them on Facebook.
If you plan to order prints, you will have to create an account with Sincerely Inc. To post on Facebook will require you to login with your account first.
PopBooth promises a U.S. delivery time of two to five business days. International users will have to wait two to three weeks for delivery of prints. The Sincerely team has a guarantee for all your prints as well: if it gets lost in the mail, damaged, or you just aren't happy with it, they will send you another free PopBooth or refund your money. They take responsibility from the moment you place the order until the moment you are actually holding your PopBooths in your hand.
When you've taken a lot of photos though PopBooth, you can access your previously shot photos from the History screen. Your shots will be organized by date, and you'll see the individual photos used to comprise the strip, but not the strip itself. Tapping on a series of shots will take you to the strip view and filter selection.
Considering that the app is free to use, PopBooth is not bad at all. The interface is simple, beautiful, and intuitive. A price of $2.99 for two strips is not that bad, considering the company's guarantee as well. I would like to see more filters in the future, if at all possible.
iPad 2 users: You get "Party Mode," which is great for weddings, conferences, and events. With this, you can buy credits in bulk with discount, your family and friends can use the app to snap photo strips, and everyone will get their own PopBooth photo strips in the mail.
