Believe It Or Not! Swallow Swords With Your iDevice
Ripley iSword (Free) by Ripley Entertainment Inc makes anyone an expert sword swallower.
This app has two games, “Sword Swallower” and “iSword,” though the latter is locked until you score 3,000 points.
The sword swallowing game shows a sword dangling above a swallower. You only have a three-second countdown to tilt the swallower so he lines up with the sword. Once it drops, you’ll need precise timing to tap the screen, stopping the sword.
Wait too long though, and a splattering of blood shows behind the swallower. As if killing the swallower isn’t enough, a crowd also boos at you. Tap on the screen at the right before it’s too late, and you’ll stop the sword before it ends up being the trick you only do once. Higher points are scored the closer you flirt with death.
Scoring 3,000 points sounds like a challenge, but it’s possible after about three consecutive rounds or so. With iSword unlocked, you too can become a sword swallower. Tilt your iDevice upwards near your mouth and a life-size sword will fall across the screen. This has no gameplay to it, though it would be neat if you had to stop the sword at a certain point.
The app also features some trivia about successful sword swallowers. Of course, this being a Ripley’s app, you can’t have the success stories without the morbid disaster stories.

Did you know a German sword swallower tried swallowing an umbrella in 1999, though he died because he accidentally hit the button to open it?
Finally, the whole reason the app is free is to serve as an advertisement for all of the Ripley’s “Odditoriums” around the world.
This app is fun to play and you can’t beat the price. Share your score on Game Center and see how your sword swallowing technique stacks up against others.
This is a case where playing the app beats doing the real thing.
