You Might Smack Your iPhone After Using SmackEm
SmackEm ($0.99) by behrens development is a new iPhone app designed to let users vent. If you’ve ever been so angry with a person that you just wanted to smack them, now you can on your iPhone. SmackEm comes with the added bonus of a worry free beating; no assault charges, no legal fees, and no hospital bills!
Choose a photo or take a new picture, choose an effect, and begin the beatdown. Effects range from zits, to stiches, and you can even send your person to jail. After you’ve finished email the photo to whoever you wish. SmackEm is a great idea, both unique and funny.
However, adding effects is an unnecessarily convoluted process. First you have to choose an effect by scrolling to it. Then tap the SmackEm tab to add the effect to the photo of the person. Tap to place the effect, if looks right tap keep. If not, tap undo to remove the most recent effect or tap clear to remove all effects from the photo. I don’t like how you can’t add more than one of the same effect before tapping keep, it makes the SmackEm process a lot longer than it needs to be.
Defacing someone on your iPhone is a much better option than actually hurting them in real life (no matter how much they deserve it). SmackEm capitalizes on this and provides a release to pent up anger.
SmackEm is a funny app but it is not very practical. Instead of smacking a person, I would end up smacking my iPhone in frustration. I like the idea, but the app needs quite a bit of refining.
