Squirmee and the Puzzling Tree ($0.99) by Coding Design, LLC is a puzzling action game for your iDevices in which you help the main character, Squirmee, save his sister, Pink, from a monstrous tree.

At first, the game seems too simple. On level one, you realize that by pressing on the screen with your finger, Squirmee will stop, helping him avoid the dangerous and moving obstacles.

Although there is essentially one control, it doesn't always control Squirmee. For each level, touching the screen does something different, or controls something different. For instance, instead of just stopping Squirmee, it may stop the actual weaponry to aid you in your escape.

I found myself stumped on multiple levels as I attempted to figure out exactly how to manage my escape. This is a puzzler for sure. I don't see this game being for kids at all due to how challenging it actually is, but maybe I'm just not as good at puzzles as I thought.

There are 75 levels total, including humorous boss fights, so this game is sure to keep you busy. The gameplay is very intuitive and it has great graphics, so, overall, I'm definitely impressed. I just found it a bit too difficult at times.

For even more of a challenge, there are many Game Center achievements that you can earn. The game is only a dollar, and there is even a lite version so you can try it before you buy it.

In the end, if you would enjoy a truly puzzling action game, purchase this app. I give it a solid four out of five stars — minus one only because of the difficulty level.

But, really, I wish my brother would be willing to go through such hardship to rescue me from some psycho tree. I'm pretty sure that would never happen, though (unless there were some sort of monetary reward).
