Steelpan TP Makes Tropical Music On Your iPad, Win A Copy
SteelpanTP ($2.99) by YUJI HASEBE is an iPad-only musical instrument simulator that brings the exotic sounds of the Steelpan to you.
A limited feature music app, Steelpan TP opens with an image of the drum’s face with notes labeled on each section of the head. You just tap a note and the related sound will play. Easier than lugging around the real thing, this app has a pleasing and realistic sound for each note. This particular Steelpan is a tenor and includes 26 notes in the key range of C4-E6.
Although there is nothing else to this app, there doesn’t really need to be. The sound is realistic and the labeled notes allow you to learn to play a Steel Pan without having to spend the money on lessons. At $2.99, the price is somewhat unreasonable for something so simple, but it is a fairly high quality app. I can’t say I would recommend it at this price, but hopefully the developers will decide to put it on sale soon.
If you want to play Steelpan TP on your iPad, but don’t want to shell out the three bucks, leave a comment below for a free copy. Contest ends July 27 at 11:59 p.m. CDT.
