Xtreme Wheels ($3.99) by Bravo is, quite possibly, 2011’s newest game phenomenon. Using Retina display graphics, A5 dual core processing and hyper-realistic movements, this trial motorbike game is sure to win huge praise from iPad 2 owners around the world.

Bravo Games is known for their high quality 3D games and their newest release does not disappoint. The detail in the graphics is outstanding and really shows off the iPad 2’s abilities. The game could not have looked better on an HD television screen.

Xtreme Wheels takes you on the most dangerous motorcycle ride you could imagine. You are threatened with low-clearance overhangs, exploding barrels and death defying jumps off 30-foot-high ramps, all while trying to keep your balance as you fly through the air.

The realistic movements of the rider are what set this app apart from other trial bike games. When you crash, time slows down as your head smashes into a low-clearance beam, or you flip your bike and land, face-first on the pavement. Your body crumples, lifelessly to the ground when you miss a jump and fall from 30 feet up. You fly through the air like a ragdoll when you are blown from your motorcycle by an exploding barrel. It is more fun to crash your bike than it is to actually get through the obstacle course. While it is violent in its realistic body movements, the game shows very little blood, so players with sensitive tummies will not be sick all over their iPads while playing. I wouldn’t recommend it for young children that have not yet been exposed to violent video games, but in today’s culture, there are a lot of kids who have seen worse on television than what is displayed in this game.

I wish I could say that this app is perfect, but it’s not. It has a very bad stability issue. The game will suddenly quit on you at random intervals. It happened four times during an hour’s gameplay and never in the same spot. My irritation became full rage when I spent 20 minutes on a particularly hard part of a course where I had to retry the same jump 100 times (the game counts your retries). Almost immediately after I finally made it through the obstacle, the game crashed and when I reopened it, I had to start the level all over. Since this is a brand new app, I have complete confidence that the developers will fix the stability issue in an update. Hopefully, they will do it soon, or the low-scoring user reviews will push this awesome game off the map.

Overall, this game is a blast and everyone should get a copy. The price is unbelievably cheap considering the quality of the graphics and the fast gameplay. There is a major stability issue at this time, but it should not deter you from buying it. The likelihood of the developers fixing it in an update as soon as possible is fairly high. The game is loads of fun and will entertain you for hours on end. You are destined to crash and burn over and over again with Xtreme Wheels.
