Apple And Samsung Are Fighting On The Tablet Playground Again
August 3, 2011
In the most recent tablet quarrel, Samsung has put their foot down and said, “I’m not telling!” Samsung recently said they are no longer sharing their sales figures or predictions publicly. Robert Yi, Samsung’s chief of investor relations had this to say:
"As competition intensifies, there are increased risks that the information we provide may adversely affect our own businesses."Samsung is facing a big bully on the playground as Apple is threatening their assets. There are many lawsuits claiming Samsung has been a copycat of Apple and violated several of Apple’s design patents. Apple and Samsung have been in a long battle that has gone back and forth with lawsuits and countersuits regarding the stealing of one another’s designs. So far it appears Apple may have the upper hand, and Samsung might be a little afraid. Some analysts believe that putting this new policy in place, will keep distance between Apple and Samsung as they continue with their ongoing design squabbles and legal battles. Several research firms have indicated that Apple could use the shipping information from Samsung as evidence in the ongoing battle of these design patents. According to Bloomberg, Samsung has just been kicked out of the game in Australia. An injunction is in place that will not allow Samsung to sell or advertise the new Galaxy Tab 10.1 within that country. This is in response to the 10 patent infringements that have been found against Samsung. Australia is not the only place Apple is working on limiting their sales. They are trying to keep Samsung from selling this device in other countries as well. Samsung will get back their privileges in Australia as soon as they get court approval or the lawsuit is settled. We all know the iPad is a far better tablet than anything else out there, so it is no wonder that Samsung and the other makers are going to go after the things that make it so great.
