Apple Releases iOS 5 Beta 6 To Registered Developers
August 19, 2011
Pretty much right on schedule, Apple released today the sixth beta iteration of iOS 5 to registered developers of the iOS program. As usual, this new version is available to all developers running the iOS 5 beta 5 beta over-the-air as a delta update, and you should be prompted automatically to install it any time now. Otherwise, make sure to plug your iDevice to a power source and connect to WiFi before prompting a manual update in the settings app. The install takes about 150MB.
As far as we can tell, this version only brings some bug fixes and performance improvements. In particular, we're hoping this new version will be softer on battery life. As usual, we'll keep you posted if we hear of any new user-facing features.
This sixth beta is also another step towards the final release of iOS 5, scheduled for the fall. As a reminder, iOS 5 will bring many great new features to all your iDevices, such as notification center, iMessage and many more.
