Apple's Online Find My Mac Feature

Alongside iCloud's revamped Find My iPhone functionality, a brand-new feature has appeared on the iCloud beta site. Find My Mac, which presumably works by looking at nearby Wi-Fi signals, helps to locate a missing or stolen Mac the same way Find My iPhone does.
Currently, only licensed developers have access to the iCloud beta.
With the majority of Apple's Mac sales now from laptops, it's sensible that some kind of protective system be built in. Now iCloud makes this possible on any Mac (well, any recent one--iCloud's system requirements are pretty high).
Even better, it allows you to remotely lock or erase the contents of your Mac, which is a pretty nifty free feature: great for paranoid grandmothers or mischievous government officials. It may also come in handy if you decide to go PC free and end up forgetting where on earth you left your MacBook Air.
Find My Mac will be available to the general public once iCloud debuts this fall. iCloud is a free service.
