Best Places To Sell Your iPhone 4 Right Now & At What Price

August 4, 2011
It’s almost time to say goodbye to your iPhone 4. As such, you should know that your handset is still worth a lot of money on the secondary market. How much? That depends on the service you use and whether your iPhone is from AT&T or Verizon. Plus, in some cases, there are price differences between the black and white models. Surprisingly, it doesn’t seem to matter whether your iDevice is 16GB or 32GB. Currently we recommend using one of the following services to sell you handset: Gazelle, Amazon, or eBay. Please note: These prices are for those iDevices with normal wear and tear. Plus, all assume the iPhone is free of water damage and come with its original cables and AC adapter. You may get more or less than the price quoted. Gazelle One of the first “get cash for my iDevice” solutions, Gazelle has been around awhile now and comes highly recommended. Unfortunately, their current pricing for the iPhone 4 is considerably less than those of the other two sites. Trade-In Value
  • AT&T - iPhone 4 16 GB - $176, black
  • AT&T – iPhone 4 32 GB - $180, black
  • AT&T - iPhone 4 16 GB - $186, white
  • AT&T – iPhone 4 32 GB - $191, white
  • Verizon - iPhone 4 16 GB - $167, black
  • Verizon – iPhone 4 32 GB - $175, black
  • Verizon - iPhone 4 16 GB - $167, white
  • Verizon – iPhone 4 32 GB - $175, white
Amazon’s Trade-In Store Amazon offers high prices for the iPhone 4. Unfortunately, the one big drawback here is that you won’t get cash for your trade-in. Rather, you’ll be given an Amazon.com Gift Card. Trade-In Value
  • AT&T - iPhone 4 16 GB - $275, black
  • AT&T – iPhone 4 32 GB - $315, black
  • AT&T - iPhone 4 16 GB - $275, white
  • AT&T – iPhone 4 32 GB - $311, white
  • Verizon - iPhone 4 16 GB - $255, black
  • Verizon – iPhone 4 32 GB - $264, black
  • Verizon - iPhone 4 16 GB - $275, white
  • Verizon – iPhone 4 32 GB - $264, white
eBay Instant Sale Via App The online auction giant, which offers cash for trade-ins, doesn’t seem to care whether your iPhone 4 is black or white. As such, it doesn’t break down prices according to color. Trade-In Value
  • AT&T - iPhone 4 16 GB - $261, black
  • AT&T - iPhone 4 32 GB - $288, black
  • Verizon - iPhone 4 16 GB - $238, black
  • Verizon - iPhone 4 32 GB - $256, black
Summary As you can see, the best prices are currently being offered by Amazon. However, if you aren’t too crazy about getting an Amazon.com Gift Card, your best bet is to use eBay. Given that the iPhone 5 will likely be available at or below current iPhone 4 prices ($199, $299), these prices basically mean getting your next handset for free or close to it. Of course, this assumes a subsidized iPhone 5 purchase. Unlocked models will cost considerably more through Apple or Apple resellers. Not bad for a 14-month old handset, don't you think?
