If you're a fan of RPG classics from the 1980s and early 1990s, like the early Dragon Warrior games, we have good news for you. A new iPhone title looks to emulate the charm and retro characteristics of those games, including the 8-bit pixel art that was common back then. The game's name is Guardian Saga and should be a blast for anyone who is nostalgic and is craving a JRPG on their iPhone.
Guardian Saga offers turn-based battles, and surprisingly is available in both English and Japanese. If you were one of those gamers who played your JRPGs in their native tongue, Japanese language-support may appeal to you. Other features include the battles being played from a first-person perspective; think of Paladin's Quest or Earthbound on the Super Nintendo, and there's also a quick save for on the go gamers.
The story seems quite interesting when judging by the overview given in the app description:
"The Guardians - the great beasts created by the Gods of old to protect mankind from evil – have suddenly fallen quiet. Evil creatures once again roam the lands, and the entire Kingdom is thrown into chaos! As the greatest of the King's warriors you must venture forth and discover what has befallen the great Guardians and help restore peace," the app description states.
Guardian Saga is currently available on the App Store for $1.99.
