Historypin Allows You To Interact With The History At Your Location
August 17, 2011
This week, the non-profit group, We Are What We Do, along with Google released Historypin for iPhone. This free app will allow you to learn and interact with the history that surrounds you.
Historypin uses your iPhone’s camera, Google Maps and GPS to explore your location, providing photos and information that have been pinned by other users. Explore old pictures and view them in layers over the current view. You can toggle between the two views so you can see the historical comparison.
You can also create history by sharing your own stories. There is a feature that allows you to take pictures of old photos you have and share the stories behind them. Historypin will automatically pin your information for other users to enjoy.
You may browse content remotely to find all the facts and photos that are associated with a particular area. Search by date and location, or shake your iPhone for a random piece of content from somewhere in the world.
If you enjoy history and would love to explore the world around you, Historypin may be worth checking out!
