Jailbreak Only: Caffeine Is Here To Keep Your iDevices Awake Through The Day

August 9, 2011
One of the simplest and most popular tools for Mac OS X, Caffeine, has been made available on iOS today to continue saving you time and killing your battery. Caffeine, is an amazing little tool for the Mac (available on the App Store) that prevents your system from going to sleep. Once launched, it will allow you to define a timeframe during which you want your Mac to be kept awake (or simply forever), despite any energy saver preferences you might have set. Launched today on iOS, Caffeine is pretty much the same thing. That is, it's a simple springboard switch to disable the device's auto-lock feature easily. Also available for free, Caffeine for iOS is, however, only available on the jailbreak in Cydia and isn't as sleek and powerful as its Mac OS counterpart, as it will still let your screen dim. Nevertheless, if you don't mind the massive impact that keeping your device awake will have on your battery, Caffeine should be perfect for you. Here it is demoed on video (link):

Sidenote: Caffeine for iOS only borrows the name of Caffeine for Mac; the developers of the two apps have no connection as far as we've been told. [via iDownloadBlog]
