"KPMG GO" Helps Graduates Stand Out, Probably Shouldn't Be Hired
August 13, 2011
KPMG LLP, the U.S. branch of the international audit, tax, and advisory firm, has just released an app -- KPMG GO -- designed to assist students and recent graduates of almost every collegiate major in finding established, targeted careers in America's supersaturated job market.
Dubbed "The Best Advice on a Mobile Device," we at AppAdvice naturally take a bit of exception at the slogan; but the Agents of Play-developed app does promise a wealth of useful information for the recently-matriculated.
In the company's press release, Stacy Sturgeon, managing partner of university relations and recruiting, says that
"[t]he KPMG GO application should have broad appeal. It is intentionally designed to benefit students of every major by providing insights and tools that will help them take the first important steps in building a successful career."In addition to offering up in-depth articles and blog posts, the app shares insider info on everything from resume creation to social network etiquette, videos, Q&As, and branding tips to help job-seekers land that coveted corner office. However, for all its promises, the app seems exceedingly limited so far. It's been out for ten days, and -- in those ten days -- there haven't been any content updates. In fact, the 30 articles included (many of which are merely short videos or text entries containing just a few paragraphs) are all dated June 13, so it's probable the content hasn't been refreshed or added-to in an entire month. For something that touts itself as an up-to-date, cutting-edge resource, this initial effort is severely lacking. On the bright side, KPMG GO is universal and totally free on iTunes, no doubt helping users save their limited resources to aid in paying back all those crazy student loans.
