Look Out Square, ERPLY Introduces A Credit Card Reader For iPhone And iPad
August 24, 2011
ERPLY has recently announced the introduction of Point Of Sale, a new portable credit card app and reader for the iPad and soon the iPhone. Square may now be in for a little competition.
Since ERPLY is already a known point of sale and cloud-based retail technology company, it makes sense for them to move into the mobile method of accepting credit card payments. ERPLY’s Point Of Sale app will work for companies either large or small, and the fees are reasonable. Currently, the reader costs $50 with a 1.9 percent transaction fee.
The reader attaches to the iPhone or iPad docking port and when a card is swiped, it communicates with ERPLY POS software to process and record the transaction. All credit card information is encrypted, so the transaction remains secure.
The reader works exclusively with ERPLY POS inventory and management solution software. A retailer can check their inventory of a product right on the device, through this cloud-based management solution. Currently, it only works with the iPad, but the iPhone will be added soon.
There is a catch however. In order to use the Point Of Sale app and reader, you need to be a subscriber to the ERPLY POS software. There are a couple of options and luckily one is free. It appears the free account has limited features, but it may be all a casual entrepreneur needs. The other subscriptions run anywhere from $70 to $100 per month, depending on the features.
If you are still using a clunky old cash register and a carbon credit card imprinter, Point Of Sale may be a wonderful solution. Currently Point Of Sale is only available in the U.S.
