Machine Gun Jetpack Gets A New Name And An Official Release Date

Machine Gun Jetpack is no more! Well, at least the name is no more. Halfbrick Studios have announced that Barry Streakfries' next adventure will now be known as Jetpack Joyride to better reflect what the game is all about, which is flying down corridors avoiding enemies with all kinds of different jetpacks strapped to your back.
As you'll see in the video embedded below, Halfbrick's upcoming title had evolved so much over the past couple of months thanks to loads of new content that the team was forced to come up with a more appropriate name. Besides the legendary Machine Gun Jetpack, you'll find new and wacky additions like Steam, Rainbow, Bubble, and Shark Head jetpacks for Barry to strap on and fly by obstacles with.
For those of you unaware, Jetpack Joyride is an endless distance game starring Barry Steakfries. In the game you'll be required to dodge obstacles by flying up and down with your jetpack while collecting coins to unlock new content.
The team at Halfbrick also announced that Jetpack Joyride will arrive in the App Store as a universal game on September 1st, so you won't have to wait much longer.
