10 Band EQ ($0.99) by David Ross is a music app that allows you to adjust the bass, treble, highs, lows, and six other equalization (EQ) related levels on any non-DRM protected song in your iPhone/iPod touch library. Now, you can fine-tune every song in your iTunes library as it plays on your mobile device.

The app offers a 10 channel equalizer consisting of a +/- 8 decibel boost or cut to allow you to adjust the sound quality of your songs in real time. The app automatically loads 50 random songs from your device’s music library which can be increased in the settings section, but you can also add or remove any songs you like individually. Once you have selected a song you like, you can start working on the EQ. When you find the perfect levels, you can save your presets for future use. If you are having trouble finding the right sound, or you just don’t know what you are doing, there are 12 preexisting EQ sets for you to play with.

Overall, this app is a fun way to play around with the EQ levels of songs in your iTunes library. It doesn’t record the newly adjusted song for future listening, but you can save your own custom presets. The songs will not play in the background as a multitasking feature, but the point is not to set up a song and walk away. The point is to play around with various songs, trying to find the perfect mix for each one. If you like EQ gadgets, this app is only $0.99 and will entertain your secret desire to become a recording engineer.
