Cado ($0.99) by ClearCut Games is an interesting and engaging physics puzzle game for the iPhone. Use gravity to your advantage — or dismay, depending on how you look at the situation — as you attempt to steer Cado to safety.

The first thing I noticed was the graphics. They are superb. It's as if they were drawn straight onto graphing paper with black ink. Even the sound effects and music add to the overall appeal of this app.

At first, I was surprised the controls weren't tilt controls. But as soon as I started playing, I realized why. The movements you make must be so precise and so quick, that tilting the device just would not do. It would be too difficult to be precise when tilting. This is why we have the touch controls, or arrows.

The goal of the game is to get the ball, named Cado, into the black hole to finish each level. You must strategically, and slowly, press the left and right arrows to navigate Cado around the game world. Each level, each world, is a different shape — each one far more difficult then the next.

Although navigating Cado to the black hole will successfully complete each level, collecting the star on each level will give you a better score.

The game gets trickier almost immediately as you go through the levels. Not only does the game world become more difficult to manage, and get Cado safely through, but then there are spikes you must avoid, as well.

This game is not easy, folks. In fact, it is quite challenging (which is the point). With 40 levels, and more to come, this game will keep you challenged for a while. Another batch of 20 levels is already in the works — for free — in an upcoming update.

Cado for the iPhone is currently in the App Store for $0.99 and Cado HD for the iPad is $2.99. Sorry, folks, no universal app. But if you want a creatively challenging puzzle game, you'll probably want to give Cado a spin, but be careful of the spikes!

GIVEAWAY: Luckily, we have a code for the iPad version to give away to a lucky AppAdvice reader! For your chance to win, simply leave a comment on this post (with a valid email address so that we can contact the winner) by Friday, August 19 at 8 p.m. PDT.

Good luck!
