Get Crazy And Strategic With The New Puzzle Platformer, Candy Boy
Candy Boy ($0.99) by Colorbox was just released in the US App Store for your iDevices.
It's a match-three puzzle platformer that will take some strategic planning, but will keep you coming back for more. With gorgeous graphics, many levels to master, and many unique worlds to explore, this game is sure to be a hit.
Meet the candy boy, Casper. He's an odd little fellow with his little chef's hat. He also seems to have an intense, yet endearing, case of ADHD. The spastic and very animated jump that Casper does when he completes each level is almost worth the price alone. He will wave and flap his arms about to show his excitement.
The goal of the game is to get rid of the "worms" — the blocks with giant mouths — and other colored blocks to pass each level. You must also collect coins and navigate each level carefully. Don't place your blocks just anywhere, for there is a certain way they must be placed if you want to complete the level and collect all three stars.
Luckily, you are shown which color blocks come next. This way, you can strategically plan your moves to ensure a victory. Once the worm blocks are gone, the level is complete. However, your score depends on how many coins you collect.
To control Casper, use the right and left arrow keys on the left side of the screen. On the right side, there are two buttons: the far right button makes him jump, whereas, the other releases the block. As soon as the block he is holding is placed, another one appears in his hands.
Most times, you'll have to make sure you get a running start to make the jumps. Watching Casper sink slowly into the water, like Mario in lava, is not a pretty sight. Plus, the blocks actually laugh at you as you fall into the depths and die. They actually laugh. Poor Casper.
There are four unique worlds to explore and over 100 levels total with more to come. With full Game Center or OpenFeint support, this game will surely keep you busy and entertained for a long time.
Candy Boy is now available in the App Store for the iPhone ($0.99) and the iPad ($2.99). Definitely pick this one up! It's cute, fun, and challenging. It has earned itself a permanent place on my iPhone, without a doubt.
