Keep The Demons Out Of The Magic Matrix In Demon Hunter Deluxe
Demon Hunter Deluxe ($0.99) by BengBeng is an action arcade game in which you protect your princess from many different types of demons. After all, you're the demon hunter; it's your job.
Upon opening this app, I was immediately greeted by some major anime boobage. And for some reason, these girls are on a beach, with ice cream cones. What does this have to do with demon hunting? I have no idea.
However, for the majority of you, this means you may not even read any further. Just go buy the game. For those of you who need a story — man, you're so particular — I suppose I'll placate you below.
This story is a love story. What story about demons and a demon hunter isn't a love story? You are the Demon Hunter and madly in love with some princess. The princess is, of course, a demon magnet and you must keep her alive, day by day.
The goal of the game is to ensure your princess stays safe and sound inside the Magic Matrix (hint: this is the creepy looking circle in the center of your screen).
This story reminds me of Scott Pilgrim in a way. I guess it's slightly because of the graphics, the way the characters look, and partly because of the love story. Plus, the princess just stands there. The whole time. While you fight for her life all by your lonesome.
Why do guys always fall for the stupid girl who can't help herself? What is so appealing about the damsel in distress who just stands by helplessly? Stupid, naïve Scott Pilgrims.
Tiny demon heads, all different in looks and actions, will fly at your princess from all directions. The only control you use is your finger; touch your hero, the Demon Hunter, with your finger and drag him around the screen. Once the demons start coming, you need to knock them away from the princess by hitting them with the Demon Hunter.
Nearing the end of each level, there will be a boss. While successfully keeping this boss away from the princess, you must bash into it repeatedly until it dies. There will be a health bar in the top right of your screen so that you can see your demon boss defeating progress.
Oh, and don't forget to move around to collect the powerups. There will be many that spawn, so keep your eyes open and be quick to collect them. But don't keep your eyes off the princess for too long! If she gets bumped out of the circle, it's game over.
The English in the instructions and in the game itself is a bit broken, but doesn't prevent you from playing and playing well. The graphics and music are both spectacular and gameplay is easy and fun. It's easy to pick up and lots of fun to play, though, I'm not sure how long it will keep you entertained.
It has full Game Center support and is currently in the App Store for only $0.99. So go get you some hot anime chicks, demons, and other such geekery if a quick, fun, and aesthetically pleasing action game is up your alley.
