Test Your Logic Skills With Kuluku
Kuluku ($0.99) by blue (solutions) inc is an ingenious new puzzle game for iDevices. This simple number puzzler will provide hours of fun to anyone who enjoys Sudoku or Karoku.
The object is to place the numbers in the grid so that the value of all the boxes in each row/column is equal to the black box at the end of that row/column. The white boxes show the subtotals of each row/column so players can track their progress. At any point while completing the puzzle, players can tap on the creature icon to see the incorrect entries.
Once the grid has been completed correctly, “You Win!” will appear and you can start a new game. If nothing appears, some of the numbers have been incorrectly placed. Find your mistake by checking if the white and black boxes all match, or tap the creature to display incorrect entries. I suggest players only use the check feature after they’ve already finished the puzzle otherwise it defeats the purpose of playing.
There are three different game levels, 4x4 (easy), 5x5 (medium), and 6x6 hard. There are also three different game themes, Loonatic, Polar Bear, and Majestic Beaver; but these themes don’t have anything to do with the game difficulty. Kuluku has procedural game generation, so you’ll never play the same game twice. This makes every game unique and fun.
One improvement that could be made is to color the box at the end of the row/column. Instead of the end boxes remaining black, they could change from red to green once the values in that row/column were correct. This would eliminate the need for a creature check feature and would make the game more challenging. It could also eliminate cheating.
Overall, Kuluku is a highly entertaining new logic puzzle game. With simple controls, Kuluku takes minutes to learn and will surely entertain for hours. Be sure to check it out in the App Store.
