Get Your Pop Culture Fix In App Form With Pop Candy
Pop Candy (Free) by USA TODAY is the new companion app for the Pop Candy blog written by Whitney Matheson.
If you're into pop culture and are on the Internet — which I am pretty sure it's safe to say that you are — chances are you've heard of Pop Candy. This section of the USA Today site keeps up-to-date with music, news, and even comic books.
The app gives you your own profile. If you don't have a Pop Candy account, you can sign in via Twitter or Facebook instead. Then, you can chat with other Pop Candy community members about a myriad of topics. Share whatever you want, or even nothing at all, but either way you can still read what others are posting.
Search through the news articles and interviews; not to mention the awesome podcasts, photos, and videos. You can even check out the events section to see what's going on near you.
There are 12 sections total that comprise the app. You can use it to checkin once you enter your Foursquare credentials. There is also a places section, though, I'm not sure what the difference is between that and checkins.
Right now, there doesn't seem to be as much content in the app as on the site, but hopefully it will be updated. I expected the entire website archive to be included, but either it's not or I can't access it. I clicked "load more" at the bottom of the screen, but nothing more seems to load.
Despite the lack of content archives, most everything pop culture now comes to you in the comfort of your own pocket — for free! So if you're a pop fiend, get your fix with Whitney Matheson on your iPhone.
