I like having a go-to game on my iDevice that takes a ridiculously long time to beat, but only requires a few minutes to remember how to play. Those are the games I can run to when I'm down on the couch with the flu or stuck at a doctor's office. It doesn't matter where I am, I can pick the game up and put it down easily enough. There just have to be enough levels or upgrades to keep me entertained. Tesla Wars is an awesome app for just those reasons. First, there are adorable stick figures with not-so-adorable ambitions of tearing down your tower. So, the logical thing to do is to blast them with 1.21 gigawatts of electricity. Sounds about right. I am personally relieved that I will not be paying that utility bill. There are 11 different types of attackers, and each one needs to be dealt with on its own level. The grunts, however, are just basic stick guys who use their bare hands like they're mutants or something. Obviously, upgrades are going to be needed to keep up your tower, With 100 upgrade levels for each special ability, it will take you awhile to get a truly maxed out tower. I am enough of a perfectionist that when I see a challenge like that, I take it seriously. How many of these special attacks are there? Well, there are nine. I can save you the split second it would take for you to do the math and come out and say that you're looking at nine hundred upgrades. Theoretically, the game could take forever, but the levels themselves are pretty quick. So, you can play a fast round or two while waiting for something. You don't need to be able to sit down and invest a few hours in the game if you don't have that kind of time. If you do have that kind of time, I might recommend a book or some fresh air. Tesla Wars is available on the App Store for $1.99. However, watch the daily free game apps, because this game pops up rather frequently for free.
