O2, a British network provider, is rumored to have notified their UK retail stores that they will be carrying out a three week process to swap out old iPhone stock with new stock. This will happen in order to get ready for the release of Apple’s next iteration of the beloved smartphone. This information comes to us according to iDownloadBlog.
Sent by O2 to UK retail stores:
“The following is to advise that we are removing the old iPhone unitary between the 22 August and the 12 September. This is a 3 week programme which will see all iPhone unitary swapped out for new iPhone unitary, and will of course prepare us for the launch of the new smart phone. At the same time we are installing an International Favourites bay to stores that can accommodate the unit, as well as replacing the existing magazine stand with a new freestanding stand.”This does fall into the September release speculation, but doesn't fit with some rumors that suggest we won't see the next release until October. Regardless, we know that we will see the new device sometime this year. A question raised by this rumor is whether or not iPhones will be available for purchase that same day, September 13, or if they'll just be announced and available for preorder, the latter being the most common scenario.
